The Rock Pool opened its doors to the public on the 10th June 1933.

It was opened by Chairman of the Council Mr. R Hastings JP and Lady Elizabeth Annesley.

The maximum charge for admission, use of a box, costume and towel was not to exceed 6d.

The pool was open from 9am to 9pm every day from June to September.

At the Council Meeting on Monday 12th August 1933 it was stated that 23,949 spectators and bathers visited the pool bringing in revenue of £261.

Achievements

Over the years thousands of children and adults have gained Lifesaving and Swimming awards.

Children as young as 4 years take their first attentive steps to becoming a competent swimmer.

Swimmers at the pool have won numerous Lifesaving Awards.

Best of all thousands of families have had fun filled summers for over 70 years.
